# Configure End of Trial Behavior

When a trial ends and the subscriber has no required payment method on file, Advanced Billing has to decide what happens to the subscription. The **End of Trial Behavior** setting makes that a single, explicit choice applied consistently across every product on your site, rather than something that varies by subscription settings and collection method. It's only available on sites that allow productless Subscriptions, and changing it requires the account permission described as *manages product catalog, settings, and integrations*.

## Choose the behavior

Go to **Config** > **Settings** > **Subscription Creation**, then find the **Subscription Activation** card. The setting appears under **At the end of the trial, if no required payment method on file**.

Choose one of three options:

- **Active or Past Due** - Activates the subscription if remittance payment is allowed. Otherwise, dunning starts.
- **Mark as Trial Ended** - No payment collection is attempted. The subscription stays inactive with the status *Trial Ended*. This is the *default* setting.
- **Past Due** - The subscription becomes Past Due and dunning is initiated.

Click **Save** to apply your choice. It applies to every trial subscription on the site, regardless of individual product settings.
