Projects in Maxio allow you to gradually build out Contracts for any Sales Orders that have been booked with incomplete or yet-to-be-determined elements. As real-life events take place and solidify the values for those incomplete elements, you can mark complete the corresponding Milestones for those events within the Project. Completion of such Milestones then triggers Revenue, Invoicing and Transaction actions as specified, thus allowing the Revenue and Invoicing schedules to be built out over time as events take place and contract details become available.
This feature is an Add-on, designed to extend Maxio's capabilties to meet your growing business needs. To enable, please contact Support.
Project Uses
Use Projects to build out Revenue schedules, subscription dates, and Invoicing schedules for common scenarios such as:
- Consumption-based workflows (in which the Revenue/Invoicing Amounts are yet to be determined).
- Contracts with a "Go-Live" date that is undetermined at the time of signing.
- Professional Services that are ordered beforehand, but take place (and are recognized) on an "As-Needed" basis.
- Contracts with Accelerated or Staggered Revenue schedules.
- Subscriptions that require an estimated Amount to be updated with an "Actual" Amount at regular intervals.
- Other workflows with dynamic Revenue or Invoicing values, or other Contract elements that are subject to change on the regular.
Managing Projects
Please refer to one of the topics below for the various tasks involved in managing your Projects:
- Project Template Set Up: Project Templates are used during the initial creation of a Project as the "base model" upon which a new Project is built.
- Create a Project: To create a Project, you will need to create the Transactions that will be built out by the Project as its Milestones are completed over time.
- View and Edit Project Details: The Project view provides references and links to all the records associated with a Project, as well as a full list of the Project Milestones and their completion statuses.
- Projects Landing Page and Transaction Detail: The Projects landing page is your centralized source for keeping track of your Projects and their statuses.
Projects and Salesforce
The Maxio Projects for Salesforce functionality enables you to use the Maxio Projects feature directly from your Salesforce account. This includes the ability to mark individual project milestones complete and modify triggers within the completed milestone just as you would within Maxio. This functionality may only be used with existing projects. You must still create the Project Templates in Maxio and create individual Projects through the Transaction creation screen.
Read the Maxio Projects for Salesforce article for setup and use.
