Add Metadata and Custom Fields to a Subscription

Learn how to use metadata in Maxio to capture contract numbers and define custom fields on subscriptions. Understand how to add, manage, and populate custom fields to store structured business data. Use metadata to improve searchability and maintain consistent internal records.

How Metadata Works

Metadata is consolidated at the bottom of the Subscription form. It supports both system-defined fields, such as Contract Numbers, and user-defined Custom Fields.

  • Contract Number: Conditionally visible if the Contract Containers feature is enabled for your site.
  • Custom Fields: Key-value pairs that allow you to extend the standard Subscription data model.

Add or Create Custom Fields

  1. Locate the Metadata section at the bottom of the form.
  2. Click the Find or add a custom field... combo box.
  3. Type to search for an existing field or click Create new custom field to open the creation modal.
  4. If creating a new field, enter the Name and select the field type.
  5. Once added, enter the specific Value in the Custom Fields table that appears.
  6. To remove a field from the Subscription, click the trash can icon.
Deleting a Custom Field from this table only removes it from the current Subscription; it does not delete the field definition from your site settings.
