Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) Sets let you track and display CAC data alongside Subscription Momentum metrics in Maxio. Each CAC Set defines monthly acquisition costs that align with report date ranges, enabling accurate CLV-to-CAC analysis. Maintain an ongoing CAC Set by extending its data monthly to ensure current and historical comparisons remain accurate.
A Subscription Momentum report can include one CAC Set. Select a CAC Set when defining the report to display its values and CLV-to-CAC ratio in the Customer Lifetime Value section. Keep one ongoing CAC Set whose date range extends over time.
Any user with reporting permissions can view a CAC Set, but creating or editing one requires Admin permissions.
To create a CAC Set
Important: Only CAC Set values that fall within a report's date range appear on the report. If the report's date range shifts, a CAC Set with fixed dates stops appearing once the range moves past it.
For example, you build a single CAC Set that has data from Jan 2016 through Dec 2016. You then define a Subscription Momentum report to run over the period Last Year and include that CAC Set.
If you run the report in 2017, the report date range is Jan 2016 to Dec 2016, and your CAC Set data appears. If you run the same report in 2018, the report date range is Jan 2017 to Dec 2017, and your CAC Set data does not appear. To correct this, either build and apply a new CAC Set, or modify the existing one and add CAC values for each month in 2017.
To modify an existing CAC Set, go to Admin > Customer Acquisition Cost Sets, select the CAC Set, then click Add / Edit Entries to extend its date range.
You create and maintain Target Sets the same way, and you can select them alongside your CAC Set on the same Subscription Momentum report. See Create Targets for Subscription Momentum.
For how Target Sets and CAC Sets both fit into Subscription Momentum reporting, see Understand Metrics and Targets.
