Maxio may block further transaction attempts from specific customers when their ACH payments are rejected due to authorization issues. This is done to protect all parties, reduce repeated failed payment attempts, and ensure compliance with NACHA rules and regulations.
When this happens, the affected ACH Payment Profile may be disabled and removed from automatic billing attempts. Re-enabling it isn't automatic: it requires a Maxio Risk team review, described below.
Affected customers had ACH transactions returned with the following reason:
R29 – Corporate Customer Advises Not AuthorizedThis means the customer's bank has rejected the payment, often because the bank requires the merchant's Originator ID to be whitelisted before accepting ACH debits.
Because R29 indicates that the debit was not authorized, Maxio restricts further ACH attempts for the affected Payment Profile. This helps protect your processing reputation and prevents repeat returns while authorization is being corrected.
Payment Profiles disabled due to an R29 ACH response cannot be re-enabled by Merchants or customer admins from the UI.
If you view a Payment Profile disabled due to an R29 response, the Disabled badge shows the Maxio Risk team contact instructions on hover.
To view the instructions, navigate to the customer's Payment Profile and hover over the info icon next to the Disabled badge.
End buyers cannot re-enable disabled Payment Profiles.
When a Payment Profile is disabled due to an R29 response, Maxio sends a Merchant notification.
To reinstate ACH payment capability for the affected customer:
Contact the Customer
Ask the customer to reach out to their bank and whitelist the Originator ID: 8263863381.
This authorizes your business to debit their account via ACH.
Notify Maxio
Email risk@maxio.com to confirm the customer has completed this step. If you received an email notification about the block, you can reply to it instead, but a reply isn't guaranteed to reach the same inbox as a direct email to Risk.
Important: Maxio cannot remove the block, allow new transactions, or assist with restoring ACH payment capability until the Risk team reviews the case and confirms.
Re-send the Invoice
After Maxio confirms the block has been lifted, re-send the payment request or invoice to the customer so they can submit the ACH payment successfully.
If Maxio is not notified that the customer has whitelisted the Originator ID:
