Renewal Factors allow you to apply percentage-based adjustments to renewal Transactions when the exact value is not known at the time the original Transaction is created. By assigning a Renewal Factor to a Transaction and updating its value later, Maxio can adjust the renewal amount automatically during the renewal process.
Go to Admin > Renewal Factors to create and manage them.
Renewal Factors must be enabled for your account before this option appears in Admin. Contact Maxio Support if you don't see it.
Example
You are permitted to raise the annual cost of a subscription expiring in 2022 by the Consumer Price Index for 2021. At the time you create the Transaction (sometime in 2020), the CPI 2022 has not been established. To address this, simply add an entry into the Renewal Factors called CPI 2022. Set the factor (value) to 1.00.
When you create the Transaction, select this option for the Renewal Factor.
When the CPI 2022 index is published, update the Renewal Factor to the appropriate value. Then, when the Transaction is actually renewed, the Amount of the renewal Transaction will be the existing Amount multiplied by the CPI 2022 Value.
The Renewal Factor is only used at the time of the renewal action. If you change a Renewal Factor, any existing Transaction Amounts that were calculated using it do not change.
For a broader look at how Transactions work, see Understanding Transactions.
If you use Advanced Billing, see Access Renewal Factors via the API to retrieve these values through the Advanced Billing public API.
