Troubleshoot MCP Report Retrieval Errors

Some Maxio reports reach your AI client as a file to download rather than as data in the conversation. The Download Existing Report Run tool returns a temporary download link when the AI client asks for one, and whenever a report is too large to return in the conversation. The AI client then downloads the CSV file and processes it locally. A client that isn't permitted to do either fails to retrieve the report.

Where the download link points

The download link is on the same domain as your Maxio MCP Server URL, the address you added to your AI client when you configured the connector. The file is served through Maxio, so your AI client needs network access to that domain only, not to a separate cloud storage provider.

The link works without signing in and expires after four hours. If it expires, ask your AI client to download the report run again to get a new link.

Check your client's code execution settings

If your AI client reports that it can't download a report file while retrieving or analyzing reports through the Maxio MCP, first verify that your Claude organization allows code execution and network access.

To allow Claude to retrieve report files

1. Navigate to Organization Settings > Capabilities.
2. Under Code execution, confirm that the following settings are enabled:
   • Cloud code execution and file creation
   • Allow network egress
3. Under Domain allowlist, confirm that access is set to All domains, or that the allowlist includes the domain of your Maxio MCP Server URL.
4. Retry your request.

These capabilities allow Claude to download report files from your Maxio MCP Server domain and process them locally. If code execution, network egress, or access to that domain is restricted, report retrieval fails.

These settings are managed at the Claude organization level. If they are unavailable or disabled, contact your Claude organization administrator.
