Invoicing in Maxio allows you to create, send, and manage customer invoices from your site. To begin using invoicing, you need to enable it, configure your site, and review key invoice settings to ensure your billing workflows and invoice emails are set up correctly.
Relationship Invoicing is available for new sites. To convert an existing Statement Based Billing site to Relationship Invoicing, contact your Customer Success Manager.
If you are migrating to Relationship Invoicing, we recommend doing extensive testing beforehand to ensure you understand how your billing flows and customer communication behave. Even though most of the APIs are compatible and much doesn't change between the two, enough does change to warrant reviewing all of the implications before going live.
If you are creating a new site on Relationship Invoicing, get started by configuring your site.
Once you have created a site on Relationship Invoicing, configure it using Maxio's in-app Setup Guide, found at the top of your site's left navigation while your site is in test mode. It walks you through your product catalog, personalizing your site, testing a subscription, and going live.
Review your invoice settings (via Settings -> Invoices) to configure how you want your invoices to look and act.
We recommend starting with:
Automatic collection attempts to collect payment automatically from the card on file (or ACH, if enabled). Remittance collection prompts the customer for payment, which a human then records against the invoice.
Now that invoicing is enabled and configured, see Understand How Invoices are Generated to learn what triggers an Invoice, and what data it contains, before you send your first one.
To manage payers and consolidate billing across related Customers, see Understand Customer Hierarchies and WhoPays.
To combine multiple Invoices into a single bill, see Consolidate Subscription Groups.
For advanced users who need programmatic access to their Invoices, see the invoices API documentation.
