No. Metered Fields are display-only. They show Meter data for informational purposes and have no effect on the charges, credits, or total amount due on the Invoice.
Not automatically. Metered Fields must be activated on each Subscription individually. This gives you control over which Subscriptions show which usage data.
Yes. You can add multiple Meters to a single Metered Field, and each Meter appears as a separate row in the usage table. Alternatively, you can use a formula expression to combine multiple Meters into a single calculated row. See Use Advanced Formulas with Metered Fields.
If a Meter recorded no events during the billing period, it displays a value of zero in the Metered Field. The Metered Field section still appears on the Invoice.
If the system cannot retrieve Meter data in time when generating the Invoice, for example due to a query timeout, the Metered Field section shows a "temporarily unavailable" message rather than failing the Invoice. The charge is unaffected. This is rare and typically resolves on the next Invoice.
Yes. If your Meter uses segmentation, the Metered Field automatically displays usage broken down per Segment in the usage table.
By default, yes. However, you can configure a Metered Field to use a Product's billing period instead, useful when a Product renews on a different schedule than the Subscription. See Configure the billing period source.
Yes, if the meter_formula feature is enabled on your site. Formula expressions let you combine multiple Meters with math operators (+, -, *, /, <, >) and functions (ABS(), MIN(), MAX(), ROUND(), IF()) to produce a single calculated value for display on the Invoice.
