When enabled, the Avalara ELR (E-Invoicing & Live Reporting) integration allows Maxio to validate, submit, and track compliant e-Bills across multiple global mandates. This article explains how to generate and submit invoices through Avalara ELR, either manually or automatically, and how to monitor submission status.
You can submit an invoice or credit note to Avalara ELR directly from the document screen.

To submit a document manually
Important: Missing details such as VAT/GST IDs or invalid addresses prevent submission.
Instead of manually submitting documents, you can configure a sync schedule.
To configure automatic submission
Important: Missing details such as VAT/GST IDs or invalid addresses prevent submission here too — an automatically submitted document goes through the same validation as a manually submitted one.
Go to Config > Invoicing > eInvoicing.
Under Sync Schedule, choose one of the following:
Once set to an automated interval, Maxio automatically checks for new invoices that match a mandate's execution rules and submits them to Avalara ELR.
The same Config > Invoicing > eInvoicing page serves as your eInvoicing dashboard. From it, you can verify your tax ID information, review your active registrations, and set your sync schedule, alongside the Mandate Configuration table.
The Mandate Configuration table lists every mandate available to your account.

To view submission status
Each submitted document shows one of the following:
For mandates that report back more than one party's response (currently France's B2B e-invoicing mandate), the document also carries a trading partner status and a tax authority status alongside this overall status. See Trading partner and tax authority status below.
To see all three statuses together
The Documents tab lists every submission for that document alongside its status, External Document ID, and mandate.
Some mandates report back the response from more than one party. For these mandates, opening an invoice or credit note's eInvoicing details shows two additional, source-labeled statuses alongside the overall status:
Paid).Currently, France's B2B e-invoicing mandate (
FR-B2B-EINVOICE) is the only mandate that reports a tax authority status this way. Mandates that don't report a tax authority response, including Peppol-based mandates, show only the overall status described above.
For France's B2B e-invoicing mandate, an overall status of Submitted means Avalara has accepted and forwarded the document. It does not yet mean the tax authority has approved it. Maxio keeps checking for the tax authority's response for up to about 26 hours after Avalara reports the document submitted:
If no tax authority response arrives within that window, the document is no longer held back from download, but its status won't reflect a tax authority determination.
If a submission fails, see Avalara ELR Troubleshooting and FAQs.
