Configure Custom Pricing for Products

Set Custom Pricing for Products directly on a Subscription using one of these Product allocation flows:

• Update Quantity
• Toggle On/Off
• Purchase Prepaid Units
• Record Usage

Custom Pricing applies only to the selected Subscription. It doesn't update pricing in the Product Catalog.

If list and sales price tracking is enabled for your account, you can set a list price reference alongside a custom sales price override to automate discount calculations. See Track List and Sales Prices on Subscriptions.

Update the quantity on a product

This flow bills a quantity-based Product at a Custom Price instead of its catalog price point.

To set Custom Pricing while updating a Product's quantity

1. From Advanced Billing, go to Billing > Subscriptions, then select the Subscription.

2. From the View Subscription page, select Products in the left navigation panel.

3. In the All Product Types filter next to Search, select Quantity Based (Recurring) or Quantity Based (One-time).

4. Locate the Product, click its More icon (...), then select Update Quantity.

5. Under Pricing, click Change pricing.

   

6. Select Custom Pricing.

7. Configure the Pricing Scheme, then click Save.

8. Select how to handle proration when the Product's price increases, when there's a new charge, when an immediate Product payment fails, and when the Product's price decreases. The choices that don't apply to the direction of your quantity change are disabled.

9. Enter a Memo describing the allocation.

10. Click Update.

Toggle a product on or off

This flow bills an On/Off Product at a Custom Price instead of its catalog price point.

To set Custom Pricing while toggling a Product on or off

1. In the All Product Types filter next to Search, select On/Off.

   

2. Locate the Product, click its More icon (...), then select Toggle On/Off.

3. Under Pricing, click Change pricing.

4. Select Custom Pricing.

5. Configure the Pricing Scheme, then click Save.

6. Select On or Off.

7. Select how to handle proration when the Product's price increases, when there's a new charge, when an immediate Product payment fails, and when the Product's price decreases.

8. Enter a Memo describing the allocation.

9. Click Update.

Purchase prepaid units for a product

This flow bills a Prepaid Usage Product's allocated and overage pricing at a Custom Price instead of its catalog price points. Custom Pricing is available only for a One-time purchase. A Recurring purchase raises or lowers the amount against the Product's current Price Point, so the Price Point can't be changed partway through.

To set Custom Pricing while purchasing prepaid units

1. In the All Product Types filter next to Search, select Prepaid Usage.

   

2. Locate the Product, click its More icon (...), then select Purchase Prepaid Units. This opens a drawer over the Products table.

3. Under Purchase Type, select One-time.

4. Under Pricing, click Change pricing.

5. Select Custom Pricing.

6. Configure Custom Pricing for the Allocated Usage Pricing Scheme and Overage Usage Pricing Scheme.

   

7. Click Save.

8. Enter a Memo describing the allocation, and choose how to handle an immediate Product payment failure.

9. Click Purchase.

How recurring purchases handle pricing

The Recurring tab doesn't offer Change pricing. The Pricing, Base price, Overage price, and Interval columns show the Product's current pricing as read-only, next to the New recurring amount field. If you switch to the Recurring tab while a Custom Pricing change from the One-time tab is still pending, a Pricing change pending alert says the change can't be saved together with a recurring purchase. Click Revert pricing change to discard the pending change and continue with the Product's current Price Point.

Record usage for a metered product

This flow bills a Metered Product's usage at a Custom Price instead of its catalog price point.

Custom Pricing on a Metered Product's usage is only available if Multifrequency is enabled for your site.

To set Custom Pricing while recording usage

1. In the All Product Types filter next to Search, select Metered.
2. Locate the Product, click its More icon (...), then select Record Usage.
3. Enter the Quantity of usage to record.
4. Next to Pricing, click Change pricing.
5. Select Custom Pricing.
6. Configure the Pricing Scheme, then click Save.
7. Enter a Memo describing the usage.
8. Click Record.
