Track List and Sales Prices on Subscriptions

Track list and sales price differences on Subscription items to automate discount calculations and gain visibility into pricing performance. When you apply a custom sales price override, Maxio stores a reference to the original list price from your Product Catalog and calculates the discount amount automatically. The resulting values flow into Maxio Core Transactions and Subscription Momentum reports, where you can compare list-side totals against actual revenue.

List and sales price tracking is available only when this feature is enabled for your account. Contact your Maxio representative to learn more.

Before you begin

Before setting up list price tracking on a Subscription, confirm the following:

• Your Plans and Products have standard list prices defined as price points in your Product Catalog. See Setting Up Plan Price Points for how to configure these.
• List and sales price tracking is enabled for your account.

How list and sales price tracking works

When a Subscription uses a custom sales price override, Maxio stores a reference to the original list price point from your catalog alongside that override. The system calculates the discount as the difference between the list price and the applied sales price. These values appear on Maxio Core Transactions and flow into Subscription Momentum reports, giving you a way to compare list-side totals against actual collected revenue.

Set up list price tracking on a subscription

Set or update a list price reference during any Subscription configuration action, including Subscription creation and Product allocations.

To set up list price tracking

1. While creating or editing a Subscription, apply a custom sales price override to the relevant Plan or Product line item.
2. In the List Price Point selector, choose a catalog price point to serve as the list price for the Subscription item. Maxio uses this reference to calculate the discount amount automatically. Select Don't use a list price point to remove a previously set reference.

The billing interval of the selected List Price Point must match the billing interval of the sales price applied to the Subscription item. If you leave the interval blank, Maxio fills it in from the List Price Point automatically; otherwise, a mismatched interval blocks the change. This applies to both Plan and Product price points.

Display list prices on invoices

You can configure list pricing to appear on invoice lines so Customers can see the discount applied to their Subscription items. This is a site-wide setting called Display List Prices, found in Invoice Settings under Line Items and Billing. When enabled, list prices appear on all invoices for Subscriptions that have a List Price Point set.

Review discount values in reports

After enabling list price tracking on a Subscription, Maxio calculates and stores the discount amount on each affected line item. You can find these values in two places:

• Maxio Core Transactions: View list prices and derived discount amounts alongside Transaction records.
• Subscription Momentum reports: Analyze list-side totals versus actual revenue to measure discount performance across your Subscription base.
