Subscriptions are central to Advanced Billing. They tie your customers to your Plans and are responsible for billing and charging on your recurring intervals.
The creation of a Subscription is analogous to receiving a signup. There are 3 basic ways that Subscriptions are created:
Once a Subscription is created, it auto-renews on the period specified by its Plan. There's not much you need to do beyond periodically checking for Subscriptions that become past due or fail to renew.
If you enable automated Dunning, keeping up with Subscriptions in trouble is even less of a concern. See Understanding How Dunning Works.
Turn on Send Me a Daily Status Email under Config > Settings > Status Emails to get a daily activity report for your site. You can also add yourself as a BCC recipient on customer-facing emails, except Dunning emails, by enabling Also Notify Me When a Customer Is Notified under Config > Settings > Emails.
Now that you understand how Subscriptions work, see Create a Subscription to create your first Subscription.
For frequently asked questions about billing cycles, renewals, past due status, exports, and refunds, see Subscription FAQs.
