Configure Multifrequency Billing for Components

NEW Catalog Terminology

We’re transitioning the terminology used in the Maxio Product Catalog. If you’re using the new experience, you’ll see updated naming in the application—Products are now Plans, and Components are now Products.
Our documentation is still being updated, so you may see previous terminology (especially in screenshots); refer to these definitions for the most accurate interpretation.

Use the Multifrequency feature in Advanced Billing to define independent billing intervals for individual components separate from their product. This guide explains how to enable and configure Multifrequency, set billing intervals in days or months, and manage component billing dates within Subscriptions.

Adding or Editing a Price Point

When adding or editing a price point for a component, a new Billing and Invoicing Interval setting appears. This field determines how often the component bills independently from the product. Enter the number of months for the component's billing interval.

If you leave this field blank, the component will follow the same billing frequency as the product.

Example:

If your product bills monthly but you set the component interval to `3`, the component will bill every three months while the product continues billing monthly. Leaving the field empty aligns both the product and component to the monthly cycle.

Creating a Component with Multifrequency

This does not work with the "Quantity Based (One-Time)" component.

  1. Create a new component or edit an existing component that needs Multifrequency.

  2. Edit or create a price point. Under the Price, there will be an option for Billing and Invoicing Interval.

  3. Set the timing interval for the component. This can be done in days or months and will be based on the product. If the timing needs to be aligned with the product, leave this blank.

  4. Click Save Pricing Scheme.

Changing the Billing Date

You can adjust individual Component billing dates to existing Subscriptions with Multifrequency enabled.

The following restrictions apply:

  • A component must have existing allocations.
  • The price point used must have an interval defined.
  • You cannot change the date when an advance invoice is open.
  • Term subscriptions can only change billing dates for components using arrears billing. Metered components use arrears billing and remain eligible if all conditions are met.

To change the billing date

  1. Navigate to the Component's Detail page within a Subscription.
  2. Click the Actions menu (...).
  3. From the drop-down, select Change Billing Date.
  4. Select from these options:
    • Set a Custom Date - Enter a specific billing date and time for the component.
    • Use Upcoming Billing Date - Pick one of the upcoming billing dates shown in the list to align the component with that schedule.

Saving the change updates when the next component assessment occurs. If the subscription is in a trial, the trial period may be extended to accommodate the new billing date.
