A scheduled cancellation ends a Subscription on a future date you choose, while billing, access, and invoicing continue uninterrupted until that date arrives.
Both scheduling options are available from the same Cancellation Timing dropdown, on the same cancellation screen.
Choosing to cancel at the end of the current period keeps the Subscription fully active through its current billing cycle. This is helpful when the Customer intends to use the service until the prepaid period ends.

Alternatively, you can schedule the Subscription to end on an exact future date, regardless of where that date falls in the billing cycle. This gives you flexibility to align the cancellation with contract terms or a Customer's preferred date, even if it doesn't line up with a billing period.

If your Site has reason codes configured, you must select one before you can confirm the cancellation. If your Site doesn't use reason codes, no reason is required.
Scheduling a cancellation has the following effects on invoicing, proration, transactions, and eligibility.
A scheduled cancellation, whether at period end or on a specific date, doesn't affect any already-issued Invoices. If there's an open Invoice you no longer expect to collect, void it directly.
Maxio doesn't automatically prorate charges based on a mid-period cancellation date.
Metered Products billed in arrears aren't automatically invoiced when a Subscription is canceled mid-period. To invoice for unbilled usage, wait until the current period ends or issue an ad hoc Invoice. See Clear a Pending Cancellation for how Metered Product usage is handled when you cancel at the end of the period instead.
Maxio Core transactions aren't updated until the scheduled cancellation date arrives. Reports and transaction history show the Subscription as active until then. To reflect a shorter term sooner, such as for revenue recognition, adjust the Subscription's term instead.
If the Subscription has a term renewal queued to start after the current term, scheduling a cancellation cancels that pending renewal configuration too, not just the current term.
If you schedule a cancellation in the UI, the Subscription is canceled at approximately the same time of day it normally invoices. If you schedule a cancellation through the API, you can supply the exact cancellation time; Maxio interprets it using your Site's configured time zone and adjusts for daylight saving time.
Subscriptions in the Awaiting Signup, Awaiting Signup Date, Past Due, Expired, or Paused states can only be canceled immediately. Scheduling a future cancellation isn't available for these states.
For the different ways to initiate a cancellation, see Cancel a Subscription.
