Extend your dunning tools by sending SMS (text) reminders alongside email notices when payments fail. Connect your Twilio account, then add SMS messages to individual dunning steps using Liquid fields, including the required "STOP" and "HELP" language so Customers can manage their subscription to texts.
You need a Twilio account to use this integration.
We suggest using one Twilio number per Advanced Billing site. Customers can unsubscribe from SMS dunning messages, so you'll want to make sure they aren't unsubscribed from a secondary Advanced Billing site.
We also suggest sending both emails and SMS messages during dunning, so Customers still receive an email even if they unsubscribe from SMS messages.
Enter your Twilio credentials in Advanced Billing and enable the integration before you can add SMS messages to any dunning step.
To connect Twilio to Advanced Billing

You can find your Account SID and Auth Token in Twilio's own console.

To verify your configuration, select send a test text. Remember: if someone at your organization regenerates your Twilio credentials, the integration stops working until you update the credentials in Advanced Billing. If a Customer doesn't have a phone number on file, Advanced Billing doesn't send them a text message.
After you've connected Twilio, go to Config > Retries & Dunning to add SMS messages to your Dunning Schedule.

When editing or adding a step, check Send SMS at the bottom of the editor. This shows a text box for the message body.
The SMS message body also supports Liquid fields. See Customize Emails with Liquid Examples for more.
Include "STOP" and "HELP" text in each of your dunning messages, and keep your text messages short (160 characters is recommended).
Customers who have provided a cell phone number receive SMS messages on all of the configured dunning steps.

To decide which schedule and steps to add SMS to, see Choosing a Dunning Schedule.
