There are no entries in the Web Connector log file, even though the Web Connector's own settings indicate that logging is turned on. Without a log to review, there is no record of what happened during a sync attempt, which makes any other Web Connector problem much harder to diagnose.
The Windows user account running the Web Connector did not have permission to write data to the drive where the log file is stored. Logging was enabled in the Web Connector's settings, but the operating system blocked the write, so no entries were ever created.
This is a Windows user-privilege issue with how the Intuit Web Connector behaves on the user's machine, not a problem with the Maxio Platform or with the QuickBooks sync itself. Because it describes QuickBooks Desktop Web Connector's own behavior as a Windows application rather than anything in Maxio's integration code, it cannot be verified against the Maxio Platform codebase.
Check the Windows privilege level of the user account that runs the Web Connector on that machine. In the case we saw, the account did not have Administrator privileges, and resetting the user to have Administrator privileges on the computer resolved the issue: the Web Connector was then able to write to the log file successfully.
If the Web Connector log file does contain entries and you need help reading the Status column or a specific error code, see QuickBooks Web Connector Errors for a walkthrough of the Web Connector's status and log information.
If the Web Connector cannot connect to QuickBooks at all, rather than simply failing to log, see QBWC1013: Error Connecting to QuickBooks for how to troubleshoot Web Connector crashes and connection failures.
