Configure End of Trial Behavior

When a trial ends and the subscriber has no required payment method on file, Advanced Billing has to decide what happens to the subscription. The End of Trial Behavior setting makes that a single, explicit choice applied consistently across every product on your site, rather than something that varies by subscription settings and collection method.

Changing this setting requires the Setup permission.

Choose the behavior

Go to Config > Settings and open the Subscription Creation section, which is labeled Subscription Activation on some sites. The setting appears under At the end of the trial, if no required payment method on file.

Choose one of three options:

• Active or Past Due - Activates the subscription if remittance payment is allowed. Otherwise, dunning starts.
• Mark as Trial Ended - No payment collection is attempted. The subscription stays inactive with the status Trial Ended. This is the default setting.
• Past Due - The subscription becomes Past Due and dunning is initiated.

Click Save to apply your choice. It applies to every trial subscription on the site, regardless of individual product settings.
