If your QuickBooks Online sync is failing but QuickBooks itself seems fine when you log in, the cause is often an outage on Intuit's side that only affects the API. This page explains why the two can differ, and how to confirm it.
Maxio communicates with QuickBooks Online through APIs that are separate from the QuickBooks user interface you use day to day. Because of this, you can log into QuickBooks Online and work normally there while still experiencing sync issues, if QuickBooks Online's API is having an outage or is temporarily offline.
When this happens, Maxio typically displays a banner alert: "An error was encountered while attempting to communicate with QuickBooks Online. Please try again."
To check whether Intuit is reporting an issue with QuickBooks Online, visit Intuit's QuickBooks Online status page.
That page reports on the developer APIs specifically, which is what Maxio uses — so it is the right place to look, rather than the general QuickBooks status page.
There is nothing to fix on the Maxio side during an Intuit outage. Wait for the status page to report the API as recovered, then retry the sync. Records that failed to sync are not lost; they sync once the connection is restored.
If the status page reports no issue and the error persists, the cause is more likely your connection or credentials than an outage.
