Create and Use Product Families

Product Families are a simple, tag-like way to group Items for filtering in Analytics reports. A Product Family holds only a name and an optional description, and an Item can belong to only one at a time, which makes it narrower than an Item Group.

Create a Product Family

Creating, editing, and deleting Product Families are available only to Administrators. A Product Family needs a unique name; everything else is optional.

To create a Product Family

1. Open the Product Families option in the Admin menu and click New Product Family.
2. Enter a Name for the Product Family. The name must be unique. A Description is optional.
3. Click Save.

Edit or delete a Product Family

Open a Product Family from the Product Families list to change its Name or Description, or to delete it.

WARNING: As with all Delete functions in Maxio, there is no undo. Use caution when deleting.

Assign a Product Family to an Item

Select a Product Family from the Product Family field when you create or edit an Item. See Review Item Fields for the full list of Item fields. Because an Item can hold only one Product Family, selecting a new one replaces the current selection.
